Netscape November Version incompatible with Feature Installer 1.2.1?

I’ve integrated the actual version of Netscape/2 2.02 (November) and IBM
Feature Installer (V1.2.1) in my CID environment.

The problem is that the Feature Installer claims, that the November
version of Netscape is an old and refuses to install. With the June
version of Netscape all goes well.

I would like to use the new Netscape because of its ability to directly
work togheter with Java 1.1.x. But Java 1.1.4 uses the Feature installer
1.2.1 for its installation and the new Netscape Version is
incompatible(?) with FI.

Is there a trick to let FI think it works with the old version of
Netscape even if it would be the new Netscape?

Thanks for your hints!

    Yes. Just add
    SERVICELEVEL
       LEVEL = 000005
    to your NETSCAPE.PKG file.

    Bye!
    Dmitry.

    1. make a copy of netscape.exe
    2. Install June version of netscape. This version only copies newer files.
    3. Install Java 1.1.4
    4. copy back the november netscape.exe

It worked for me. Netscape is using Java11

Many thanks to all who helped me with this problem!!
I tried the tip with the SERVICELEVEL, LEVEL = 000005
changement in the NETSCAPE.PKG and it worked for me.

Yes, include the following lines in NETSCAPE.PKG:

    SERVICELEVEL
       LEVEL = 000005

OR you can type /? after the FI command line and use the switch it
mentions for bypassing the version check routine.

What is the Netscape/2 2.02 (november) and where can I find it?

Is there some special features it adds?

I have tried to download this file (november update) from the hobbes
site numerous times but it keeps getting stuck after every 5 packets or
so.  When I was successful downloading it, the file was currupted with a
no end of zip file structure error.  Is there a faster site to download
this file than from hobbes?  Has anyone gotten it unzipped without
    corruption?

I’ve downloaded it from hobbes with NcFtp which supoprts the reget
function which is also supported by the hobbes ftp server. You may try
to download it also with a reget-capable ftp client.

It was named OS2EN202.ZIP and it appears to be showing up again at
hobbes/incoming. It should have 4963239 bytes if it’s the real thing.

I had no problems with this version. It’s first one which runs on my box
without problems. But take a look at hobbes – it’s October 5 version on it
and it’s official "Netscape with Java 1.1" beta.
